With Thanksgiving behind us, decorations are up and it is time to get into the holiday spirit. The holiday season brings ice skating, trolley rides, arts and crafts, visits with Santa, and even…snow. We will continue to update our holiday guide throughout the season, but please make sure to confirm events — just in case anything has changed that we don’t know about. Napa Valley’s only outdoor ice skating rink is open daily (including holidays except Christmas) starting at noon, November 19 through January 8, 2017. The outdoor ice rink features 6,300 square feet of real ice. Skaters will be able to skate in the sunshine during the day, and under the stars at night. Open to all ages, Napa on Ice offers daily recreational ice skating, including free skate rental. Napa on Ice also offers parties, private ice time and special events. Dash through the snow in this hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a model sleigh pulled by a reindeer. Once your sleigh is complete, you and your musher can decorate it with paint and stickers and put imagination to work towing gifts around town. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a free certificate of achievement, a workshop apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.

Every Christmas season, Bale Grist Mill hosts a 19th century Christmas celebration, pioneer style. Children especially enjoy decorating gingerbread cookies, cutting paper snowflakes and making “leavings dolls” out of scraps of fabric. There are demonstrations throughout the day: lace making, wool spinning, waxed egg decorating and milling demonstrations.

Napa does Art After Dark! Iconic architecture becomes the painting in this unique lighted art walk. Original artwork created by local and international artists will be installed at approximately 16 locations in Downtown Napa, the Oxbow District and other places within the City of Napa. Supporting the innovative techniques using light and light technologies as a growing art medium the Napa Lighted Art Festival is a celebration of creative arts, technology and lights. Artwork displayed at this year’s Napa Lighted Art Festival will include light art, video art, 3D video mapping projections, lighted sculptures and projects that use technology or interactivity.
